General Questions

What are interactive forms? These forms help people fill out legal documents. You will be asked questions, and then your answers are used to fill out a form.

What do I need to get started? First, select the type of form you need for your legal situation. Try to determine if you qualify to use the form. If you are not sure whether you qualify, the interview process will help you determine if you qualify.

OK, I qualify to use the form. What do I do now? Click on the resource link you chose to begin the process. You will be directed to a website called LawHelp Interactive. You will then have the option of creating an account (to save your answers) or just going straight to the forms. You will be asked some questions during an online interview. (Most of the forms should only take about 5 minutes to complete.) At the end of the interview, your custom-made form packet will be generated in Microsoft Word.

How much does it cost? There is no cost for using this program.

Is my information secure? There are security measures taken to protect your information. Your communications with the system and your answer files stored on the system are encrypted. See the LawHelp Interactive Privacy Policy. But keep in mind that this service is on the public World Wide Web and neither Stateside Legal nor LawHelp Interactive can guarantee constant availability or absolute security. Don't wait until the last minute to access our site for a needed document. Don't store critical data here that you don't have elsewhere.

Do the forms give me legal advice? No. Stateside Legal and the resources posted on it only provide legal information, NOT ADVICE. No lawyer/client relationship is formed by using the resources on this website. No person is reviewing how you answer questions or if the documents are right for you. If you have questions or want to know if a document is right for you, talk to a lawyer.


The forms are not working for me. What is wrong? It could be a few things. Read the following questions and answers to help troubleshoot what is wrong.

Do I need a specific browser to access the interactive forms? Some browsers work better than others with our software. Up-to-date browsers are necessary. Your computer needs to be running Internet Explorer 6 or higher and be connected to the Internet. Google Chrome and Firefox also should work. Safari is not recommended. Your browser must accept cookies.

What software is needed to download and print the forms? The interactive forms are downloaded in Rich Text Format (rtf) which can be opened in Microsoft Word.

I forgot my LawHelp Interactive password. What do I do? Click the link for the automated resource that you want to use. Once you get to LawHelp Interactive, click on "Already Signed Up? Log In" to expand the login box. Then click on "Forgot your password?" to have your password sent to the e-mail address you registered with.

Can I report an error message?
Yes. Use the contact form on the LawHelp Interactive website. Be very specific and say what the error and error message were.
